Troubleshooting YOU BE MY ALLY

  • Be aware that the following device specifications are required to run these experiences        

    • Ensure your smartphone has its most current operating system: iOS13 (or later) with Safari for iPhones, or Chrome for Android, is required.

    • Use cellular data rather than Wi-Fi, where able.

    • Give permission for the app to access your location and camera. You may need to manually turn on location access.

  • If you have trouble, re-load the page.

  • Make sure you are not on low power mode.

  • If you have done all the above, try turning on and off your phone.

For the site-specific experiences on University of Chicago campus:

  • Be aware that the following limitations can affect the experience:

    • Weather and lighting conditions (including bright midday sun or overcast skies)

    • Temporary view obstructions

  • When visiting a new on-campus site, return to the app’s map function to alert the app that you are at a different site.

  • Please make sure to stand within a foot of the QR code (with the QR code in front of you).

  • It may take 10-20 seconds at a site for the app to begin working.

How do I scan a QR code?

  • Open the camera on your device and “scan” the QR code until the website application pops up. Open that link to experience the artwork.

Where do I have to stand for the QR code to work?  

  • Please make sure to stand within a foot of the QR code (with the QR code in front of you) the entire time.

  • It may take 10-20 seconds at a site for the app to begin working.

Where is the QR Code at Mansueto Library? 

  • Look for the official signage on the side of the glass dome and look for the QR code on the ground when standing on 57th St (NOT Ellis)

How do I take a photo?   
Tap the photo button at the bottom of the screen. Press your finger on the resulting image to see options for saving or sharing your image. Once you have selected your action, press the photo button one more time to return to the AR activation.
